What is Ringette? It is not hockey for girls! It has different rules, different equipment, different skills, and it is open to all genders. Ringette is a fast-paced non-contact team sport on ice in which players use a straight stick to pass, carry and shoot a rubber ring to score goals. Ringette is a wonderful game for building strength, fitness and confidence. The rules of the game ensure that everyone gets a chance to play!
The Comox Valley Ringette Association offers a FREE chance to come and try the sport.
Be sure to come early to gear up. Boys, girls and all genders aged 5 to 105 years old who would like to try this fun and exciting new sport on ice are invited to come out. Women are also welcome to come and try as we have an open and master's team you can join. We are encouraging women to come out and try as we have an active adult program.
This is a free event. Just bring warm clothes, a helmet, a pair of mitts or gloves and enthusiasm! Skate rental is free, sticks will be provided and there are a limited number of helmets available for those who do not have their own. Full gear is recommended but not essential for this event. Kids just enjoy it more when it doesn't hurt to fall. Parents and guardians must be in attendance and will be provided plenty of information about Ringette and the Comox Valley Ringette Programs.
We prefer you register for this event so that you are insured and so that we bring enough snacks! However, you can just show up on the day if it's a game day decision. The Comox Valley’s Youth Ringette Program runs from mid September to mid March. Under the direction of Ringette Canada Certified coaches, participants have weekly ice times on Tuesdays, Saturdays or Sundays. In addition to skill development, youth participants will have the opportunity to host and /or travel to play games against other teams throughout the season. Registration is ongoing and it is never too late to join in the fun!
