Communicable Disease Plan

For details on how Comox Valley Ringette plans to protect our members from Covid-19  and other communicable diseases please refer to our communicable diseases plan: Communicable Disease Plan – September 4, 2021

Please note that our plan will be updated as new information or procedures become available.

September 2021 update from the Sports Center:

Vaccine passport (card):

The purpose of the card is to both incentivize people to get vaccinated, and also to demonstrate confidence for our users they are as safe as possible from exposure; the previous restrictions were to avoid gatherings.

This is “why” the vaccine verification is very different from the previous COVID-19 measures and is not attempting the same breadth of restriction of activity.

In terms of user group responsibility, organizations/clubs/associations/groups are to treat the vaccine passport (card) as you did the COVID-19 safety plan. Groups will ensure that the sports groups (those players/coaches/volunteers/spectators for your events or activities) are entering the facility with the requirements of the PHO order.  As we work through this, the Regional District will add language to your agreements to ensure adherence to the orders.

Youth recreational sport exempted – what age?  This will be cited in the order, at this point, no one is sure yet.

Pools, arenas, program rooms, common spaces – every public space in the facilities requires proof of vaccination – no exemptions. This means there will be mechanisms of controls – example single point of access (i.e., main front entrance).  For strategies and unique situations pertaining to your user group or club, please forward your questions to Denise Robinson to begin the discussion for verification of passports (cards).

Vaccine passport (card) will be required for both individuals and groups – its not to prevent gathering, this will remain at the Restart 3 requirements, it is about restriction of access to the unvaccinated for those visiting the facility as referenced on the government web page.  By September 13, partially vaccinated and then by October 24 fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 Safety Plans – At this point, it is our understanding that there is no intention to return to COVID-19 Safety Plans, but an expectation of moving to a communicable disease plan to support safety with your participants and those associated with your event or activities. The Regional District will not collect your communicable disease plan.

Summary of what to expect at the Comox Valley Sports Center:
  • 2-3 COVID safety officers/managers per team
  • Players will not be allowed on the ice if they have not printed out, READ and signed the COVID participant agreement.
  • Players must fill in a health check before every ice time.
  • We are encouraging families to limit their spectators and EVERYONE must register with us on teamsnap so that all spectators can do the health check and provide proof of vaccination.
